The Flames of Malawi will be seeded from the preliminary round of the 2015 Cosafa Cup scheduled for May this year due to their improved FIFA ranking position.
Currently, the team is ranked fifth in the Cosafa, 26 in Africa and 93 in the World.
According to Cosafa, the competition will see the return of the old format where by the lower eight participating sides from the latest FIFA ranking released in February, will compete in the first round consisting of four teams.
From the groups, the top team in each group will advance to the knockout stages where the six higher ranked sides will join the tournament from the quarter final stages.
Malawi National team has never won the cup despite reaching the finals twice in a row in 2002 and 2003 where they lost to South Africa and Zimbabwe respectively.
The tournament kicks off from 17th May to 31st May.
