KINKELBOS: SAPS noticed with concern the posts on social media that the 45 and 35 year old couple were tortured for 5 hours and hospitalised due to serious injuries sustained during the robbery.

SAPS wishes to refute such claims and state further that the couple did not sustain serious wounds during the assault. The 45 year old male and his 35 year old wife were present during the police initial investigation on the farm and no indications were present that the couple were in need of hospitalisation. SAPS investigators have however told the couple to go for a routine medical check-up at their doctor just as a precaution once the scene processing concluded.

There was also no indications that a torture took place for 5 hours.

The suspects did however attempt to cut open the main safe using an angle grinder which did take some time between 18:30 and about 23:00. After they were unsuccessful in cutting the safe open the keys were discovered by them. The safe was opened, the couple tied up and the suspects fled the scene.

SAPS are appealing to community leaders and media to report news responsibly and to refrain from spreading false or unconfirmed information.
