Four accused appear in court for numerous offences

POTCHEFSTROOM – Three accused, Lucky Joseph Kudumane (49), Sifiso Manana (43) and Bafana Motisoe (55) appeared before Brits Magistrates’ court on Tuesday, 17 January 2022 on charges of murder, house robbery, kidnapping, unlawful possession of fire-arm and ammunition and possession of suspected stolen property. They were all remanded in custody until their next court appearance on Friday, 27 January 2022, for a formal bail application.

The wife of the deceased, Rebecca Vuelwa Mfolo (57) appeared before the same Court on Wednesday, 18 January 2023 on charges of murder, kidnapping and house robbery. She was also remanded in custody until Friday, 27 January 2023 for a formal bail application.

Their court appearances stems from a murder reported on Tuesday, 10 January 2023. Police were summoned to a scene whereby a local taxi owner, Aubrey Molefe Mfolo (61) was allegedly killed and dumped at a nearby cemetery in Letlhabile.

Information were received and followed up about a maroon hatchback vehicle, which were allegedly utilized in collecting one of the suspects, who was seen driving the victim’s (deceased) taxi.

On Sunday, 15 January 2023 the same maroon vehicle was allegedly involved in a house robbery in Maboloka Village, near Letlhabile. During the robbery the suspects robbed the victims of plasma televisions and cell phones. A Tactical operation was held the same night, and the maroon vehicle was spotted on a public road in Maboloka Village. The vehicle was stopped and three suspects were found inside the maroon Ford Fiesta. While searching the vehicle a silver revolver with 4 rounds of ammunition and ropes were found hidden underneath the back seat. Further investigations lead to the arrest of the deceased taxi owner’s wife, Rebecca Vuelwa Mfolo (57).

The following suspected stolen property were seized: A Toyota Hilux bakkie, microwave oven, two plasma TV’s and approximately 15 cell phones.

Similar cases reported in Hebron, Mooinooi, Letlhabile, Hartbeespoortdam, Brits and other parts of Rustenburg can possibly be linked to these accused.
