Four Fienaar SAPS escapees rearrested

The police in Mpumalanga would like to make know that the four suspects who escaped from lawful custody at Pienaar Police Station have just been rearrested today.

According to reports, these villains are all operating as a group in the commission of 32 recorded serious cases of house robberies including one murder. Their reign of terror stretched from Tonga, Matsulu, Pienaar, Kabokweni as well as Baberton areas. They are 28 year Sifiso Mathonsi, 31 year Senzo Nyambi, 37 year Bongani Bogra Mpila, and 31 year Vusi Ceko.

Police would like to sincerely appreciate the excellent collaboration between the community as well as the police through the SAPS’s Crime Intelligence members who tirelessly gathered information that led to the rearrest of the foursome.

When the police made a call last week on Monday, 03 February 2020, regarding the escape by the suspects, the media responded quickly by publicising the pictures of the villains and the community became activated hence the positive results we all pride ourselves with. It is against this backdrop that the Provincial Commissioner of the police in Mpumalanga, Lieutenant General Mondli Zuma, congratulates all involved parties and indicated that working as a collective, can definitely assist in the fight against crime. I am very elated about the rearrest of the suspects because they were definitely going to terrorise the community again. On the same breath, I want to pass words of gratitude to the committed and fearless community members as well as the astute media fraternity who worked closely with the police with a view that the suspects are sniffed out from their cocoons. Your relentless efforts did not go unnoticed and on behalf of the entire policing community in Mpumalanga, job well done, said General Zuma.

Nyambi, Mpila as well as Ceko were found hiding in a house in Tonga whereas Mathonsi was traced and cornered while having board a car. All of them are expected to appear at the Kabokweni Magistrate’s Court facing an additional charge of escaping from lawful custody and they will also appear for their string of house robbery cases as well as murder on the prescribed date(s) by the court.
