Yesterday, Mandeni SAPS arrested four suspects aged between 27 and 41 for alleged attempted murder.

It is alleged that on 31 July 2018 at 14:20, a local taxi owner (41) was at the taxi rank when he was allegedly shot and injured. He sustained five gunshot wounds and was taken to hospital for medical attention.

The motive of the attack is unknown at this stage. A case of attempted murder was opened at Mandeni police station for investigation. Police’s thorough investigation led to the arrest of the suspects and the seizure of firearms.

The firearms will be subjected to ballistic testing to determine whether it were used in the commission of any other crimes in the country. Suspects appeared today in the Nyoni Magistrates’ Court and were remanded in custody until Monday, 06 August 2018.
