Frost & Sullivan Acclaims NuWater’s Strong Customer Service Model for the Modular and Mobile Industrial Waste Water Treatment Market

NuWater has expanded its customer base by consistently providing above-industry average levels of services

CAPE TOWN, South Africa, July 14, 2016 /PRNewswire/ — Based on its recent analysis of the modular and mobile industrial waste water treatment market, Frost & Sullivan recognises NuWater with the 2015 sub-Saharan African Frost & Sullivan Award for Customer Value Leadership. Since its establishment, NuWater has demonstrated a commitment to exceeding customers’ expectations with its high-performance, reliable, and cost-effective solutions for water and wastewater treatment. Its outstanding ‘modular and mobile’ solutions as well as innovative commercial models are a testament to its clear thought leadership, and reflect its key business principles of responsiveness, flexibility, and scalability.

“The modularity and mobility of NuWater’s solutions is made possible by its advanced membrane technologies, both proprietary and integrated third-party technologies, that enable significantly more treatment capacity to be accommodated in a far smaller plant footprint,” said Frost & Sullivan Research Analyst Constance Nyambayo. “It further distinguished itself by delivering rapidly deployable, and where relevant, re-deployable, water and wastewater treatment solutions along with the related services and financing solutions.”

NuWater pioneered the use of high-flux 16″ Reverse Osmosis (RO) technology with its patented Flow Distributor (FD) and Electromagnetic Field (EMF) technologies that reduce fouling and scaling, the two major challenges in RO technology usage. Its 16″ RO technology can reduce the footprint of a NuWater RO plant to less than half of that of a similar plant based on conventional 8″ RO technology.

Its compact form factor makes it feasible for a single plant installation to treat more than 20 million litres of wastewater every day. Alternately, NuWater plants can be scaled down to treat as little as 50,000 litres per day. This ability to rapidly add and reduce capacity over the lifetime of a customer’s project, as well as to change plant configurations in line with a customer’s operational changes or the chemistry of the wastewater, eliminates redundancy and ultimately, lowers costs.

Reliability and energy efficiency are the two other key areas of design focus for NuWater, which translates to the most attractive OPEX and CAPEX in the market. In addition, NuWater has incorporated alternative energy sources such as solar to offer complete off-grid solutions. This ‘green’ approach showcase NuWater’s thought leadership within the WWT sector / water-energy nexus.

Other research thrusts include brine treatment technologies including eutectic freeze crystallisation, membrane distillation, and heavy metal recovery coupled with hydrogen production from acid mine drainage via microbial electrolysis.

“NuWater’s keen technological innovation, and the resulting flexibility and responsiveness of its solutions are evident in its commercial offerings. It provides a complete value proposition covering plant design, build, financing and operation,” observed Nyambayo. “Consequently, customers are able to transfer the technical and financial risks associated with setting up a new plant back to NuWater. This business model better aligns the interests of customers and the service provider.”

Maintaining ownership of its plants as well as the responsibility of their day-to-day operation and maintenance allows NuWater to safeguard the longevity of the equipment and ensure that plants are run efficiently with as little downtime as possible. Its attention to plant automation, remote monitoring, and data-driven performance management has placed it in a position to make better informed technology upgrade decisions based on quantifiable investment returns.

While Sub-Saharan African countries present exciting growth opportunities for NuWater in its main target industrial sectors, it has also entered the traditionally conservative municipal water and wastewater market. It has already secured its first project in this sector with a modular and mobile plant to augment an existing water treatment plant in South Africa by 20 million litres per day.

Acknowledging the impressive customer-centric strategies of NuWater, Krishna Srinivasan, Global President and Managing Partner, Frost & Sullivan remarked, “The key to the long-term success of any company is its ability to continuously nurture and enhance the value of its services to its customers. As such, Frost & Sullivan is excited to recognise NuWater for its industry-leading focus on enriching customer experience and customer ROI for its services in the modular and mobile industrial waste water treatment market.”

Each year, Frost & Sullivan presents this award to the company that has demonstrated excellence in implementing strategies that proactively create value for its customers by improving the return on the investment that customers make in its services or products. The award recognises the company’s inordinate emphasis on refining the value that its customers receive, beyond simply good customer service, leading to improved customer retention and ultimately customer base expansion.

Frost & Sullivan Best Practices awards recognise companies in a variety of regional and global markets for demonstrating outstanding achievement and superior performance in areas such as leadership, technological innovation, customer service and strategic product development. Industry analysts compare market participants and measure performance through in-depth interviews, analysis and extensive secondary research to identify best practices in the industry.

About NuWater
