WESTERN CAPE – Elsies River police members were conducting routine patrols yesterday evening at around 20:15, in the vicinity of 17th Avenue, Norwood in Elsies River, when they received a complaint of a shooting incident in the area.

The members made their way towards 17th Avenue, when they noticed two known males running in their direction. When the suspects saw the police vehicles, one suspect dropped an object in full view of the members. The suspect was apprehended and a Z88, 9mm pistol with 12 rounds of ammunition were confiscated on the scene. The 22-year-old suspect was arrested and detained, and once charged, he will appear in the Goodwood Magistrate court on charges of possession of a prohibited firearm and ammunition.
