Pretoria – Gauteng law enforcement has a “new broom” in the form of Lieutenant General Deliwe Suzan de Lange, who has been appointed as the provincial commissioner.

De Lange has made history by becoming the first female provincial commissioner to be appointed in Gauteng and she intends to sweep the province clean of crime and corruption.

De Lange, who started in her new position on Tuesday, is an experienced police officer who rose through police ranks. She was previously the Cluster Commander of Sebokeng for six years. She was also the station commander at Tsakane and Kempton Park police stations.

Her colleagues describe De Lange as a woman with a heart, dedication and experience.

“She was my trainer at college and she would help when I needed assistance. Trainers are regarded as strict but she was still approachable,” said Major General Molefe, the Cluster Commander of Alexandra.

De Lange holds various awards, including being crowned Senior Manager of the Year for two consecutive years and winner of the Provincial Commissioner’s Award.

She has a National Diploma in Policing and a certificate in leadership and project management from Unisa.
