Johannesburg: The Gauteng Department of Roads and Transport has issued a call for public comments on proposed amendments to the Gauteng Provincial Road Traffic Regulations, 2001. The department is inviting feedback from both the general public and stakeholders to aid in refining and enhancing the regulations.

According to South African Government News Agency, the amendments aim to bolster road traffic regulation, enhance road safety, and improve compliance throughout the province. The draft amendments were published in Gauteng Provincial Extraordinary Gazette No. 247 on 5 August 2026, in accordance with section 25(1)(g) and (h) of the Gauteng Road Traffic Act, 1997 (Act No. 10 of 1997).

Gauteng MEC for Roads and Transport, Kedibone Diale-Tlabela, emphasized the importance of public involvement in legislative processes. In a statement, the MEC highlighted that public participation is fundamental to constitutional democracy and crucial in shaping legislative changes. Citizens are encouraged to review the draft amendments and provide their feedback.
