Gauteng hosts Transport Career Expo for high school learners, 10 to 14 Oct

As part of the October Transport Month campaign, the Gauteng Departments of Education and Roads and Transport, in partnership with the Universities of Pretoria, Johannesburg, Wits and Cape Town, will from Monday, 10 October 2016, host various Transport Career Expos for high school learners in the Gauteng City Region.

The objective of the expo will be to expose Grade 10 and 11 learners to various fields of study available in the Transport sector, especially the public transport division. Furthermore, the learners will be encouraged to actively consider Transport as a career choice.

The expo is part of the provincial government’s commitment to ensure that the youth are supported through skills development and capacity building within the transport sector.

In addition to the partnership with tertiary institutions, various exhibitors including operators and suppliers in the transport industry will form part of the expo.

The program aims to create a continuous, sustainable and effective platform where learners, teachers, SMME’s and other stakeholders engage to create opportunities for learning as well as explore bursary programmes offered in the transport sector.
