Government Departments join forces in fighting crime

On Friday, 7 September 2018 Government Departments joined forces with the SAPS to prevent and combat crime during Operation “FIELLA2”.

The Operation began at 14:00 and concluded at 18:00.

According to the Operational Commander Lt Col Nqoshela the focus was to check road users whether they were complaint with road traffic acts. Liquor outlets and foreign national owned shops were also checked for compliance.

The initial operation started with a road block where 20 traffic fines were issued with a total estimate of R13 100 – 00 including 4 unroadworthy vehicles whose drivers also received traffic fines.

One suspect was arrested for possession of dagga. A case of selling liquor without licenced was also opened for investigation.

Burgersdorp sub Cluster Commander Lt Col Nqoshela said, “We will continue intensifying these kinds of operations with other Government Departments as we each have a responsibility towards ensuring compliance. It has been a very fruitful operation working together and we look forward to more of a similar kind” he concluded.
