Group awards scholarship to 3 students of FCET Gusau

The AbdulSamad Rabiu Africa Initiative has awarded scholarship to three students of Federal College of Education (Technical) (FCET) in Gusau, Zamfara.

The Managing Director of the initiative, Dr Ubon Udoh, disclosed this at an event to close up mentorship program organised for 25 students of the college which held in Gusau on Friday.

Udoh said the three students had made outstanding performance during the four months mentorship programme embarked by the foundation to empower and uplifted 25 remarkable female students out of the 6,000.

Udoh said that the foundation aimed to empower and uplif 25 remarkable female students out of the 6000 pursuing their dreams in the field of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics at the college.

“It was a community networking sessions that become a platform where dreams and aspirations converge. The participants connected with mentors provided insights and bonds were forged.

“The mentor meet-up was not just about knowledge transfer, it was about empowerment, confidence and personal growth.

“These young women have been armed with knowledge inspired by mentors and connected to community that believes in them.

“The seeds of empowerment had been sown and they would continue to grow, thrive, and one day changes the landscape of their communities.

“As an offshoot of the programme ASR Africa has also provided scholarship based to three most striving female students of FCET Gusau under the Mentorship Programme,” he said.

In her remarks, the Provost of the College, Dr Hauwa Muktar, commended the Chairman of BUA Group and ASR Africa, Alhaji AbdulSamad Rabiu, for his support to tertiary institutions in the country.

Being a beneficiary of the N250 million grant of ASR Africa Tertiary Education Grant Scheme of 2022/2023, the provost lauded the management of ASR Africa for its technical support.

She also gave them the assurance that the mentorship programme would not be the last of such gestures.

Also speaking at the event, the Wife of Zamfara State Governor, Hajiya Hurriya Lawan congratulated the mentees for having the opportunity of partake in the programme.

She added that mentorship is essential for women and girls as they continue to face the numerous challenges peculiar to their gender.

She appreciated the college for considering and accommodating such an impactful extracurricular programme.

She added that the government of Zamfara would continue to support every initiative that promotes empowerment of children and women.

she also extended her appreciation to the founder and chairman of BUA Group and ASR Africa for his numerous educational interventions across the country. (NAN)
