Hawks arrest Home Affairs official for corruption

LIMPOPO – The Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation has arrested a 34-year-old woman for fraud and corruption on 30 June 2020.
During March 2016, the suspect allegedly assisted a birth certificate applicant using particulars of another person as if she was the mother.
The authorities discovered trickeries on the issuing of a birth certificate and opened a case at a local police station which was later referred to the Hawks for further investigation.
After a long and profound investigation, the Hawks obtained a warrant of arrest against the suspect and it was effected today. The Hawks’ investigation has revealed that R4500-00 was paid to the suspect by the victim on different occasions.
The suspect is expected to make her first appearance in the Lephalale Magistrates’ Court for corruption on Wednesday, 01 July 2020.
