HAWKS bust syndicate for fraud

NORTHERN CAPE � A twelve member syndicate group appeared briefly at the Postmasburg Magistrates’ Court on charges of fraud last week.

The group is suspected to have orchestrated a wave of fraudulent transactions submitting fraudulent loans. The group utilised fraudulent identity documents and payslips purporting to be employees at various mines in and around Postmasburg. Almost R900 000.00 was lost by the financial service provider.

Investigation by the Hawks led them to Margaret Ntombizodwa Mabebe, (37), the alleged and subsequent investigations led the team to other 11 suspects.

All suspects were released on R1000 bail and the case has been postponed to 23 February 2018 pending further investigations.
