Hawks conduct search and seizure at North West agriculture

The Hawks in the North West have confirmed that they conducted a search and seizure operation at the Department of Rural Environment and Agricultural Development, in Mahikeng, this morning.

The Hawks in March raided the Office of the Premier for investigations in relation to alleged maladministration, fraud and corruption.

After assessing the available evidence pending an investigation that commenced in March this year, it became clear that there is documentation that is still in possession of the said department, Hawks spokesperson Brigadier Hangwani Mulaudzi said.

The Hawks are confident that some of the legs in the investigations would be fast-tracked for a speedy resolution.

Meanwhile, Endumeni Local Municipality Mayor and two of her alleged accomplices are expected to appear in the Estcourt Magistrates’ Court today for conspiracy to murder and other related charges.

The trio was arrested this morning by the Political Task Team after the team intercepted information of a plot to allegedly assassinate the Municipal Speaker.

The three suspects allegedly planned to assassinate the speaker, who is alleged to be an obstacle in the awarding of a tender.

It is understood the speaker allegedly suspected undue influence and possible corruption in the process.
