EASTERN CAPE – A search and seizure operation was conducted early Thursday morning in King Williams Town, Eastern Cape, as part of an investigation into a R2.7 million tender which was awarded by the provincial Department of Education.
A trading company was awarded the tender to provide personal protective equipment to the Department. It is understood that the company was paid the initial R2.7 million and a further R198 000-00 into two different bank accounts. It is also understood that the company details are also suspect and a case of fraud and misrepresentation is at an advanced stage.
Various electronic items and documents have been seized for further investigations.
