Hawks makes an additional arrest in a case of dealing in illicit drugs

WESTERN CAPE – The Hawks’ Serious Organised Crime Investigation team In George have arrested one more person in Queenstown on a case of dealing in illicit drugs yesterday.

The 42- year old is expected to make his first appearance on Monday, 14 March 2022, where it will be postponed and he will appear alongside co-accused Lindela Lofani, Hlalanathi Lofani, Mzimasi Lofani, Bongani Kenny Mgqatse and Somleze Nkawule in the George Magistrate’s court on 28 March 2022.

The five co-accused appeared in the George Magistrates’ court on 04 February 2022 where they were all released on bail ranging from R3000 to R6000.

This follows an intelligence-driven operation that was swiftly conducted by the Hawks’ Serious Organised Crime team from George and Gqeberha, George K9 unit, POPS Southern Cape and Oudtshoorn as well as Motherwell Crime Intelligence after an extensive investigation by the team targeting a suspected organised crime group that was allegedly sourcing cannabis from rural villages of the Eastern Cape. They would then distribute it in the Southern Cape outlets.
