House robbers nabbed

DURBAN On 2 November 2019, police in Kwadukuza arrested two men at Doringkop after they were spotted driving a bakkie that was stolen during a house robbery at Nkandla in October 2019.

The men aged 31 and 32, were charged for possession of suspected stolen property. Following further investigation police proceeded to Mbongolwane near Eshowe where a further two suspects aged 19 and 21 were arrested.

It is alleged that on 2 October 2019, a 57-year-old woman was at her home in Emjahweni Reserve when three unknown men accosted her and demanded her vehicle keys. They allegedly took the keys, groceries and an undisclosed amount of cash and drove off in victim’s bakkie.

A case of house robbery was opened at the Nkandla police station for investigation. Three of the suspects were charged for house robbery whilst a 31-year-old suspect was charged for possession of suspected stolen property. All four men appeared at the Nkandla Magistrates Court yesterday where they were remanded into custody.

The KwaZulu-Natal Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Khombinkosi Jula commended the police officers for the arrests and emphasized that police officers will not rest this festive season as they hunt down all wanted suspects.
