Humewood SAPS conducts crime awareness campaign at Nelson Mandela University

EASTERN CAPE – Due to numerous reports of theft at the Nelson Mandela University (south campus), SAPS Humewood in partnership with a private security company held an awareness programme at the University.

Pamphlets were distributed at the campus and there was productive interaction between the students and the police. The students were informed to be extra cautious especially with the theft out of motor vehicles on the campus. This crime is opportunistic and can be prevented if valuables are not left visible in the vehicles. The dangers of substance abuse and domestic violence was also communicated to them. The students were also motivated to concentrate on their studies and not to get involved in criminal activities which will impact negatively on their future.
