Kathmandu: Flash floods and landslides across the Himalayan border region of Nepal and China's autonomous region of Tibet have resulted in at least 780 fatalities, with more than 2,500 individuals, including several hundred tourists, still unaccounted for. The Nepal Tourism Board has documented that 149 Nepali tourists are missin g, although the disaster agency estimates this number to be slightly lower at 127. Chinese nationals are also affected, with China's foreign ministry stating on Thursday that nearly 100 of its citizens are missing in Nepal. The Nepal Tourism Board has indicated that eight Chinese are unaccounted for, although 16 have been rescued. The disaster has significantly impacted Indian citizens as well, with 98 reported missing, though 85 have been successfully rescued. The United States is also affected, with approximately 85 citizens missing, according to the State Department. Nine Americans have been evacuated, and there have been no confirmed deaths among US nationals. Other countries with missing citizens include Ukraine, Australia, Malaysia, the United Kingdom, Latvia, Canada, South Korea, Singapore, Germany, Russia, and several others, each with varying numbers of unaccounted individuals.
