‘The City of Cape Town is a proud supporter of the Jazzathon because over the years it has proven to be the perfect showcase to discover and develop emerging artists. The rising stars performing at the event are mentored and have the opportunity to perform with professional musicians. We have seen over time, how emerging artists who have performed at the Jazzathon have gone on to make it big in the music industry,’ said the City’s Mayoral Committee Member for Safety and Security, Alderman JP Smith.

‘As an inclusive city, we understand the importance of events of this nature that promote social cohesion by bringing together people from different backgrounds to celebrate and enjoy entertainment without paying a cent. We hope all our residents and visitors to our city will take the opportunity to enjoy this event,’ said alderman Smith.

The support for the Jazzathon is an indication of the City’s commitment to ensure that such music events are accessible to residents from communities across the city. In this regard, the City hosts various free concerts in Manenberg, Somerset West, Hanover Park, Athlone, Atlantis and the Cape Town CBD among others.
