Joe Gqabi District Operational Command Centre members clean Lady Grey streets of drugs

LADY GREY – Members of the Joe Gqabi District Operational Command Centre continue to support stations in the District with crime prevention endeavours and have achieved the following successes in Lady Grey.

On Tuesday, 22 March 2022, the members were conducting crime prevention duties when they received information about drug related activites at Lady Grey.

The information was followed up and a search commenced at the said address leading to the recovery of 27 bags of crystal meth and mandrax boss tablets as well as R1080-00 in cash. The drugs have an estimated street value of R4,250-00.

The two suspects, aged 19 and 56, were apprehended for possession of drugs.

The next day, on Wednesday, 23 March 2022, members once again followed up on information and searched an identified house.

A total of 13 small transparent button bag of crystal meth, four half of mandrax and one quarter mandrax worth R1550-00 of drugs were confiscated and two male suspects, both aged 19, were apprehended for possession of drugs.

Later during the same day, in an unrelated case, the members received information telephonically about a firearm.

The information was followed up and was positive as one firearm a 9 mm pistol with one magazine and 4 rounds of ammunition were found inside a silver grey motor vehicle.

The two suspects, aged 39 and 21, were apprehended and detained at Lady Grey.

The acting District Commissioner, Brig Rudolph Adolph, commended the members from the OCC for the good successes and cleaning the streets of Lady Grey from drugs and unlicensed firearms. Keep up with the good work.
