EASTERN CAPE – A joint intelligence led operation resulted in the arrest of 3 suspects and the confiscation of drugs and medicated tablets worth thousands of rands.
The operation was conducted between 22:00 last night, 11 April 2019, to 05:00 this morning, 12 April 2019. Members from National Intervention Unit, PE Flying Squad and PE K9 Unit executed several search warrants at suspected drug lords’ houses in Gelvandale and Bethelsdorp areas with special focus on firearms and drugs.
At a house in Phyllis Street in Shauderville, a 21-year-old male was arrested for possession of dagga and illegal possession of medicated tablets in terms of the Medicines Control Act. A total of 7619 Stillpain tablets, 35 x100ml cough syrup, 900 Purata tablets, small amount of dagga and cash. The estimated value of the drugs is R15 000.
At 02:00 this morning, a 30-year-old and a 42-year-old men were arrested at houses in Kalota Street, Ext21 in Bloemendal and Kronenberg Street in Bethelsdorp respectively. A total of 28 rolls of dagga, 2 scales and 350g of loose dagga was confiscated. Estimated value is R5 000.
