Joint operations nabbed over three hundred suspects

POLOKWANE – The Intelligence led, simultaneous joint operations that were up and running until this morning, conducted by members of the South African Police Service in all the Clusters across Province, nabbed 376 suspects for various offences and recovered several items including firearms and ammunition.

The operations comprised of the Crime Prevention, K9 Unit, the Tactical Response Team (TRT), the Crime Intelligence Unit, the POCC and the Detectives and were conducted through the stop and searches, road blocks, tracing of wanted suspects, etc.

The suspects were arrested for different criminal activities such as burglary, theft, possession of suspected stolen properties, possession of firearms and ammunition without license, public drinking, contravention of liquor Act, contravention of immigration Act, assault, etc.

During these arrests, the police recovered the following items: 2x firearms with 10 ammunition, 01 x rifle with 09 ammunition, 03 x motor vehicles, 03 x suspected stolen motor vehicles, 1x pellet gun, 1x duvet, 4x towels, 6x pillows, 6x Cts, 02 x plasma TV, 4x speakers, 2 x IT equipment, 2 x Sony Speakers, 1 x DVD player, Volkano blue tooth speakers, MP3 and 151,75kg dagga and liquor.

The arrested suspects will appear before different Magistrate’s Court on various offences throughout the Province.

The Provincial Commissioner of the South African Police Service in Limpopo Lieutenant General Nneke Jim Ledwaba hailed the efforts made by the operational members for their commitment in dealing head-on with all categories of crimes without compromise.

The recovered items will still be subjected for further investigations to determine their origin.

The police investigations in all these cases are still continuing.
