South africa: Justice Committee Chairperson Mr. Xola Nqola has expressed his approval of the appointment of Advocate Ntuthuzelo Vanara as the Acting Head of the Investigating Directorate Against Corruption (IDAC).

According to African Press Organization, the appointment was announced by Justice Minister Ms. Mmamoloko Kubayi and comes at a crucial juncture for South Africa's criminal justice system. Mr. Nqola emphasized Adv Vanara's extensive experience, which spans over 25 years, including roles as a legal adviser in Parliament and Chief Legal Counsel at the Special Investigating Unit (SIU).

Adv Vanara's past involvement as an evidence leader in key parliamentary inquiries, such as those concerning the SABC Board's fitness and the Eskom state capture, underscores his ethical resilience under pressure, as noted by Mr. Nqola. The Chairperson highlighted that Adv Vanara's appointment is timely due to the ongoing investigations of corruption and governance issues, which have been brought to light by the Parliamentary Ad Hoc Committee and the Madlanga Commission of Inquiry.
