Lieutenant Colonel gunned down at Ndwedwe – KwaZulu-Natal

PRETORIA – The National Commissioner of Police General Khehla John Sitole directed the immediate mobilization of the 72-hour Activation Plan following the killing of a Lieutenant Colonel at Ndwedwe, north of Durban, KwaZulu-Natal.

The Acting Station Commander of Ndwedwe Police Station, Lieutenant Colonel Jabulani Ndawonde was driving to his home when at about 18h30 last night he was gunned down near the Bhamshela Taxi Rank.

It has been established from preliminary investigations that unknown occupants travelling in mini pick-up truck opened fire on the Colonel as they passed his vehicle.

The 56-year-old Colonel succumbed to his injuries at the scene.

While the Provincial Commissioner of KwaZulu-Natal has mobilized the 72-hour Activation Plan, we are appealing to anyone who has any information on who may be responsible for this crime contact the police.
