Limpopo police reach out to communities during outreach programs as part of Safer Festive Season initiatives

POLOKWANE-The South African Police Service men and women in Limpopo continue to strengthen the relationship with their local communities through various initiatives. The positive implementation of the outreach programs across the province, is a clear indication of the Police’ determination to create a safer festive season for all the citizens in this province.

The Provincial Head of Corporate Communication and Liaison Services of the South African Police Service Brigadier Motlafela Mojapelo, today led a community outreach program conducted at the Mall of the North, outside the City of Polokwane. The objective of the initiative is to ensure safety of all shoppers at malls and shopping complexes during this festive season.

Brigadier Mojapelo addressed the patrons on crime prevention tips and alerted shoppers on the criminal activities trending at shopping malls such as ATM scams, robberies, theft out of motor vehicles etc. Brigadier further warned community members about the dangers of leaving their vehicles’ windows open and valuables inside as this could lead to criminals breaking into their vehicles. He then warned them about leaving children locked inside vehicles especially during this high temperatures and they should refrain from carrying large amount of cash. He concluded by assuring Police maximum presence at all malls to ensure safety throughout the festive season.

Safety pamphlets containing crime prevention hints were also distributed to the shoppers as a proactive measure to curbing crime at shopping malls.
