Lt Gen Mgwenya held dialogue with Mdantsane cluster woman during women’s month

The Mdantsane Cluster female members convened in their immense numbers at the Cambridge SAPS Hall, for the Dialogue with the police women on gender based violence and the Ministerial 6 point plan, hosted by our propitious guest, Lt. General Mgwenya.

Prior to the arrival of our distinguished guest, the Mdantsane Cluster female members sang joyful songs celebrating the month of women and rejoicing the comradory and unanimity for the day. Amongst the presence of the Lt. General Mgenywa was our own, Mdantsane Cluster Commander Major General Vos; Mdantsane Cluster Detectives Commander Colonel Beard; Mdantsane Support Head Colonel Kwayiba; and Cambridge Detectives Commander Colonel Tyafu.

As programmet director, Colonel Beard set before the women to open the meeting by inviting the role players for the day, and first on the agenda was Colonel Kwayiba as she welcomed the General and introduced her to the Mdantsane Cluster members. Followed by Lt. Colonel Kemp of Mdantsane HRM for the reading of the Code of Conduct. Mrs Feni of Cambridge Finance, also blessed the meeting and day by casting spiritual messages upon the women and shed light on the courageous duties that the SAPS members undertake on a daily basis and prayed for their protection and peace.

Amongst so many women, Major General Vos also set to the floor to address the women, and did so cheerfully and with gracious messages towards the women. Commending his fellow senior colleagues and juniors in their respective numbers for coming together in celebratory efforts for their rights and triumphing the dignified roles they play in the society. As well as, giving the floor to our key note speaker, none but the formidable Lt. General Mgwenya.

The transformation Agenda was first on her agenda, underlining the challenges that women face the revolutions that are being put into place to accommodate and empower women at work, adding If we continuously empower each other, we play huge roles in bettering the community. I might be a General, but my title is preceded by my title of being a mother; as sister; and being a human being. Ndingumntu before I am a General.

She shared with the women the many policies that are underway, and are in favour of the women. She also imperatively touched on the Ministerial 6 point plan that was formulated and how it should be adopted. Not adopting just adopting in as a contextual plan but putting it into action and filtering the messages that are communicated in it through our minds and our daily operations.

Stressing that this plan is the foundation that governs the SAPS organization and enables members to serve the community fairly and just.

Back to basics, touching on the importance of fitness and keeping healthy.

The General urged each and every member of the SAPS organization to refrain from being too comfortable and not looking after themselves, as it is an essential criteria in undertaking of daily tasks. How agility promotes responsiveness to the dangerous encounters, more so the horrific incidents that the SAPS stations have become prone to.

Lastly, she touched on a subject that has been on the tip on tongue for many, the matter of promotions and compensation. Thus, putting ta ease the many concerns and realistically assured the members with the progressing and regarding decisions and implementations towards the cause of the Transformation Agenda.

She ended the meeting with the Mdantsane Cluster women by leaving a rather powerful introspective message, There are 3 kinds of women in world: there are those that are risk takers, those who go above and beyond to get what they want to better their lives; the care takers, those who maintain a comfortable stance in life and always put others needs before theirs; then the under takers, those who make conscious decisions to drag others down and always make other lives miserable.

She reiterated that one needs to take a standpoint in their life and make cautious decisions. Take charge and empower one another and in turn all of that empowerment and liberality will exude in one’s character and into other.
