Lt Gen Ntshinga sends her condolences to WO Harmans family

ZWELITSHA – Eastern Cape Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Liziwe Ntshinga and her senior management extend their heartfelt condolences to the family, relatives and friends of the late Warrant Officer Vukile Harmans aged 46 (attached to Tyhefu SAPS) who died on duty in the early hours on Friday, 12 March 2021. He was a Detectives Commander at the time of his passing.

He died on duty responding to a complaint received by police from Tyefu location about an alleged mentally challenged man who was threatening the public. Subsequently, two members made a swift response to the call and on arrival they got a full report from CPF members who were at the scene.

The second police member managed to grab the suspect and move him away from the member. An ambulance was called, but unfortunately the officer was declared dead at the scene.

A 40-year-old suspect was arrested and charged for murder and he appeared at the Peddie Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 15 March 2021.

A memorial service will be held in his honour on Thursday, 18 March 2021 at Glenmore, outside Peddie. The funeral will be held on 20 March 2021 at 2 Jamela Street, Joza, Grahamstown.
