Maclear: Police embarked on a crime prevention operation yesterday starting from 19:00 up until 24:00 on 2018-9-29.
This is in line with our Back to Basics priorities of enhanced police visibility and the targeted, informed deployment of resources.
The focus was on illegal liquor outlets and wanted suspects.
Liquor is a contributing factor to serious crimes such as contact crimes. Shebeens were visited and one was closed down and a fine issued as well as the liquor were confiscated due to non-compliance to the Liquor Act.
The Cluster Commander Colonel Gezani commended the members on the good work and encouraged them to continue with all endeavours to make our community feel safe and secure.
