Maitland Flying Squad arrest one suspect and seize two firearms in Kleinvlei

WESTERN CAPE – Yesterday, members of Maitland Flying Squad reacted on information and seized an unlicensed 9 mm pistol at a house in Kleinvlei area. No arrests were made.
Members followed up more information and seized a second firearm in Kleinvlei area. The suspect was in possession of a prohibited firearm. The 41-year-old suspect was arrested and detained at Kleinvlei SAPS and will appear in Blue Downs Magistrates Court on Monday morning.
In an unrelated matter on Wednesday 20 January 2021 at about 07:30, Mitchells Plain Crime Prevention Unit members were busy with crime prevention patrols, when they received information about drugs and firearms at a premises in Sentinel Street, Tafelsig. Upon arriving at the premises, members saw a male coming out of the Wendy house holding a black bag. The suspect started running when he saw the police, but was apprehended. When the members searched the black bag it contained 103 whole mandrax tablets, 59 half mandrax tablets, 130 packets of tik, 40 grams of uncut tik, five .32 special rounds and an undisclosed amount of cash. Police arrested a 64-year-old male. The suspect face charges relating to dealing in drugs and the unlawful possession of ammunition and he is scheduled to appear in the Mitchells Plain Magistrates today on the mentioned charges.
