Man arrested for alleged murder

Ilinge police arrested a 29-year-old man for alleged murder after he handed himself over at Ilinge police station outside Queenstown this morning. It is alleged that the suspect and his 37-year-old friend were enjoying themselves at Tyutyu Locality, Machibini Village outside Queenstown on Saturday, 28 December 2019 at about 21:00 at the house of the 37-year-old man.

It is further alleged that the suspect invited his girlfriend for drinks at the house. A quarrel started after the arrival of the girlfriend. During the quarrel, it is alleged that the suspect took his knife and stabbed the 37-year-old man on his upper body. The victim was rushed to Frontier Hospital, Queenstown where he later passed away.

The suspect took on his heels as he was being tracked by the Ilinge Police. He handed himself over this morning. The suspect is expected to appear before the Ezibeleni Magistrates’ Court outside Queenstown on Monday, 30 December 2019 on a murder charge. The identity of the deceased is still being withheld until all his relatives are officially informed of his murder.
