Man arrested with illegal firearm in Tafelsig

WESTERN CAPE – The vigilance of members attached to the Mitchells Plain Crime Prevention Unit led to the arrest of a 21-year-old suspect on charges of illegal possession of firearm and ammunition.

On Sunday, 19 May 2019 at about 17:00, members were busy with crime prevention duties in the Tafelsig area, when they stopped and searched a suspicious looking male in Banhoek Street, Tafelsig.

Members found him to be in possession of a black 7.65 Pistol with serial number intact, one magazine and one 7.65mm round. Police arrested the 21-year-old male. He appeared today, (Monday, 20 May 2019) in the Mitchell’s Plain Magistrate’s Court on the mentioned charges.
