POTCHEFSTROOM: The 42-year-old Zekhalo Crisjan Vas, appeared before Vryburg Magistrates’ Court today on a charge of murder. He will remain in custody until his next court appearance on Monday, 8 February 2021.
The suspect’s court appearance emanates from his arrest on Thursday, 28 January 2021, after he handed himself over to the police in Welkom. It is alleged that Vas shot and killed 58-year-old Daniel Jacobus Ross on Thursday, 21 January 2021 at about 14:45, whilst he was working at the reception desk of a security company in Vryburg. Ross died at the scene, after being shot multiple times in the chest.
The Provincial Commissioner of North West, Lieutenant General Sello Kwena, said police will leave no stone unturned to ensure that perpetrators are brought to book.
