Man gets 15 years imprisonment for the murder of his partner

HOPETOWN – Hendrik Roland Yman (39) has been sentenced to an effective 15 years for the murder of his partner Magdalena Johanna van Heerden (39). On 2018 December the two had an argument which resulted to fatality. The accused was arrested on the crime scene, upon the arrival of the police. The victim was certified dead on the crime scene, with six stab wounds on her upper body.

On Wednesday, 09 October 2019, the Hopetown Regional Court found Hendrik guilty for the murder of his partner. The Northern Cape Police Management applauded the Investigating Officer, Warrant Officer Phillip Kleynhans for working together with the National Prosecuting Authority(NPA) and Department of Justice(DoJ) by ensuring that Hendrik was sentenced to an effective 15 years behind bars.

The Northern Cape Police Management continued to condemn the violent and barbaric acts against women. Prescribed minimum jail sentences should be deterrent to those who commit crimes against women and children.
