A 50-year-old man has been arrested by members of John Taolo Gaetsewe and Kimberley Highway Patrol Units this morning at about 03:00 at Wandrag farm outside Kuruman.

It is alleged the suspect went to a place where a New Year party was held with a firearm with the intention of killing one of the patrons. According to the eye witness, the person who was hunted by the suspect was asked to stay in a bathroom to save his life.

Furthermore, it is also reported that a person who phoned the police managed to disarm the suspect and kept the firearm in his vehicle and called the police. It is further alleged that at the time the complainant was disarming the suspect, one shot went off.

A firearm and 12 gauge shotgun shell were confiscated. The suspect was arrested and will appear before the Kuruman Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, 2 January 2020.

The Cluster Commander of John Taolo Gaetsewe Major General Johan Bean commended JTG and Kimberley Highway Patrol Units for their quick response and a work well done.
