Members of the Hartswater Family Violence Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit arrested a 26-year-old man in connection with the rape of an 18-year-old girl.

It is alleged on 05 February 2020 at about17:00, the suspect met her ex-girlfriend while with her two male friends walking home from ABET classes.

The suspect reportedly pointed the victim with a firearm and her friends ran away. The victim was forced at gun point to the suspect’s home. The victim was allegedly raped and kept for two days. She was rescued on the 7th February 2020.

Preliminary investigation revealed that the firearm used was a baby browning and has been seized by police.

The suspect is expected to appear before Kgomotso Magistrates Court on Monday, 10 February 2020 facing charges of rape, kidnapping and pointing of a firearm.
