Manhunt launched for alleged serial fraudster

POLOKWANE – The Police in Modimolle are searching for a middle-aged man who is wanted on several charges of fraud he allegedly committed in the Modimolle policing area and some places in Gauteng Province between September 2011 and February 2019.

The suspect allegedly defrauded farmers of an undisclosed amount of money. He allegedly pretended to be selling Lucerne bale to farmers who experienced drought on their farms, demanded deposits of thousands of rands, and thereafter vanished without delivering the products.

He is also facing three other fraud cases that were allegedly committed in Modimolle and Randburg, and an assault GBH in Modjadjiskloof.

Police followed up leads about this suspect after receiving a tip-off from members of the community. He was traced at his hideout around Brits area in the North West Province on Monday, 02 March 2020 but managed to escape.

The Preliminary Police investigations revealed that the suspect was last seen collecting his children from school and had since disappeared.

The police are requesting Stefanus Gerhardus (Stefan) Muller (pictured below) aged 32, to avail himself at Modimolle Police Station or at the nearest police station to assist with investigations in this matter.
