Premier David Makhura has described the late Mogale City Executive Mayor, Patrick Lipudi as a committed and devoted cadre, an agent of change, catalyst for transformation and a champion for human solidarity.

Premier Makhura was addressing mourners during Lipudi’s funeral on Tuesday, 21 January 2020 at Burgershoop Stadium, Krugersdorp. Lipudi died on Sunday, 12 January 2020 after a short illness.

“Comrade Lipudi was a quintessential, there is a lot that we can all learn from him, he was ethical to the core, disciplined and devoted,” said Premier Makhura.

Premier Makhura said Mayor Lepudi did his work diligently despite all odds.

“Even when he was sick he was always willing to work.He was kind, considerate and compassionate. I remember when we visited Mogale City during Okae Molao operation, you could see that he was not well but he was willing to work,” said Premier Makhura.

Lipudi was described as a talented dancer, sports man and a religious man.

Makhura commended him that although he was a man of all talents, one will never miss him during government events.

“Patrick was always available for his work commitments, he would never give excuses of not doing his job,” said Premier Makhura.

Lipudi was elected Mogale City Executive Mayor on 28 June 2017 after serving as the Speaker of Council from 7 December 2016.

Amongst the dignitaries in attendance was Minister of Human Settlements and Sanitation Lindiwe Sisulu, Minister of Transport, Fikile Mbalula and Members of the Executive Council.
