Media Invitation: South African Police Service Hosts its First National Safer City Summit

Pretoria: The South African Police Service in partnership with Gauteng Metropolitan Police Departments, Civilian Secretariat of Police and the Community Policing Forum will be hosting the first National Safer City Summit under the theme, “Together innovating sustainable safer city solutions”. The summit will be convened at the University of South Africa (UNISA) on the 19th and 20th of March 2019.

The National Safer City Summit aims to develop a Safer City Model in line with the international crime prevention priorities named as; The creation of safer cities, safer streets and reclaiming of public spaces. The main objective of the Safer City concept being to create integrated safer city vision and to develop an approach aligned to measure economic performance of a city.

Members of the media are cordially invited to the Summit where the Minister of Police Bheki Cele, the National Commissioner of Police General Kehla Jonh Sitole and Gauteng Metropolitan Police Chiefs will be setting the tone for the development of Safer City Model.
