The South African Police Service (SAPS) invites members of the media to the celebration of International Women’s Day.
The theme for International Women’s Day (8 March) this year, Think Equal, Build Smart, Innovate for Change, puts innovation by women and girls, at the heart of efforts to achieve gender equality.
Achieving a gender-equal world requires social innovations that work for both women and men.
For women in policing, this means putting the rights of women and the girl child at the forefront of crime fighting initiatives and within the workplace.
Discussions will centre around developing women within the organisation and the safety of women and girls in communities.
Women in senior management positions in the SAPS are expected to take part in these discussions.
