Members clamp down on drugs in the Western Cape

WESTERN CAPE – In a joint effort by police units attached to Lockdown II, information was operationalised last night which led to the arrest of five suspects for the possession of a substantial quantity of drugs. Deployed to fight the scourge of crime in the province, Lockdown II members reacted on intelligence that suspects are transporting drugs from Khayelitsha towards Somerset West and intercepted the vehicle in Main Road Strand.

The information proved to be accurate and four male suspects aged between 22 and 36 and one female aged 34 were arrested in possession of 300 mandrax tablets with an estimated street value of R15 000-00. They have been detained until their court appearance in Khayelitsha once they have been charged.
