Minister Mokonyane to do sod turning for phase two of Lusushwane Bulk Water Supply Project

The Minister of Water and Sanitation, Nomvula Mokonyane will visit Bettysgoed village in the Chief Albert Luthuli Local Municipality on Friday, 7 April 2017 to assess progress made on the Lusushwane Bulk Water Supply project phase one and also do a sod turning signaling the beginning of phase two of the project. The Minister will also engage the community.

The Lusushwane Bulk Water Supply project is aimed at providing water to the rural communities of the municipality. On completion of phase 3, the project will provide an uninterrupted water supply to the Chief Albert Luthuli Local Municipality communities closer to the country’s border with Swaziland.

The communities that will benefit from the project include amongst others Bettysgoed, Smithfields, Oshoek, Lochiel, Robinsdale, Aankomst, Pampoen, Houtbosch and Hartbeeskop. The project, from phase one to phase three is funded by the Department of Water and Sanitation with the Gert Sibande District Municipality as the Implementation Agent.
