Minister of Employment and Labour Thulas Nxesi to engage organised labour representatives and employers around Vryburg

The Minister of Employment and Labour Thulas Nxesi will be hosting a stakeholder engagement session with organised labour representatives and employers in Vryburg in the North West Province, to engage on ways to transform the labour market.

Minister Nxesi will be embarking on a drive to propel employers, organised labour and the private sector, on possible collaborations as he seeks to fight the high unemployment rate facing the country currently.

As part of the women’s month, the minister will also have a session on issues affecting women in the workplace with a special focus on women abuse.

Following his budget vote speech delivered in parliament recently, Minister Nxesi highlighted that the renaming and reconfiguration of the Department will focus on the transformation of the labour market, employment and conditions of employment.

To achieve this, the minister said the Department will continue to collaborate and align its efforts with other government departments, agencies and the private sector to create jobs and to ensure that people get the skills required in the labour market.

The first session will be conducted with employers followed by organised labour.
