MORE SOUTH AFRICA CITIES TO EXPECT HEAT WAVE

The South African Weather Services (SAWS) has issued a warning of a four-day heat wave expected to affect some parts of the country.

Kimberley residents are resorting to different methods to keep cool, as temperatures rise with Upington reaching a maximum of 40 degrees Celsius by Wednesday.

The unbearable heat has seen many flocking to municipal pools to cool off.

The extreme heat brings with it a number of dangers. People are being asked to drink lots of water and stay out of the sun as far as possible. Pets should also have access to shade and lots of water.

Kimberley SPCA manager Mario Van Der Westhuizen says:”Well the best for animal owners is during the heat time during the day between eleven and three maybe just to keep them inside or keep them in a garage, but please do not tie them down in this heat and maybe not under zinc, just put them inside.”
