EASTERN CAPE – Christine Rossouw (58) and Chantell Rossouw (38) were convicted yesterday, 01 March 2021 in Port Elizabeth High Court for the murder of Petrus Scholtz an electrician.
It was reported that on 19 July 2018, the body of Petrus Scholtz (70) was found next to a gravel road in a bushy area of Fairview in Port Elizabeth. His head was wrapped in cling wrap and his hands and feet were tied.
The Port Elizabeth Serious Organised Crime Investigation team commenced with the investigations the moment the complaint was lodged. Information was received which led to the arrest of the suspects on the 20 July 2018 and 29 July 2018. The suspects had in their possession some of the electrical tools and the vehicle that was stolen from the deceased.
Two other accused, Ronald Swartz (26) who worked for the Rossouws and Wayne Rossouw (33) Christine Rossouw’s son were convicted previously and already serving their sentence.
The remaining two accused who happen to be mother and daughter will appear in court on 08 March 2021 for sentencing on charges of murder, robbery and theft.
The Serious Organised Crime Unit is once more commended by the Provincial Head Major General Obed Ngwenya for their dedication in bringing lawbreakers to justice so as to face the consequences of their actions.
