Mount Ayliff SAPS police trainees receives in-service training on Gender Based Violence and Code of Conduct

MOUNT AYLIFF – In an effort to enhance service delivery in the Community Service Centre and in Specialized Operational Support environments of the South African Police Service, the National Commissioner had granted that the organisation continue to appoint patriotic civilians to work in the SAPS as well as to become as police reservists.

Currently these members receive in-service training, while they work under supervision to give support and adding to manpower in the SAPS and can only wear uniform after they complete their basic training.

Today, 25 March 2021, members from the Provincial Office Task Team visited Mount Ayliff police station situated close to the borders of KwaZulu Natal. During their visit members from Social Crime Prevention engaged with members including police trainees on duty to empower them about operational support issues including Domestic Violence coordination and the proper way of completing of DV registers and dealing with domestic violence victims.

Domestic Violence (DV) falling under Gender Based Violence umbrella is one of the most highlighted crimes that the government is seriously condemning in all it’s aspects and forms. In order for the SAPS to prevent this crime and pandemic in our communities, members also need to be continuously trained and reminded about standing orders and national instructions pertaining to this crime.

In motivating junior personnel in the Community Service Centre (CSC) who were appreciative about engagements, Corporate Communication Liaison personnel used this platform to remind and sensitized members about Standing Orders and National Instructions pertaining to police conduct whilst on and off duty.

The station visits on Back to Basics and Gender Based Violence by provincial Task Team aimed at enhancing service delivery will continue to cover all districts in the Eastern Cape Province until end of March 2021.
