Muizenberg police arrested four suspects and seized three unlicensed firearms and drugs

WESTERN CAPE – Alert Muizenberg police removed three unlicensed firearms from the streets. Last night the members were conducting foot patrols in Hillview area, when they noticed two suspicious males wandering around.

When the suspects saw the police, one of them dropped something that appeared to be a firearm, both suspects then ran off. The members gave chase and after a short while apprehended the two suspects. On checking what the suspects had dropped they discovered a .38 special revolver, loaded with five rounds of ammunition.

The suspects, aged 20 and 28 years, both residents of Hillview were arrested on charges of being in possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition.

In an unrelated matter the police were patrolling in Vygrond when they noticed a male riding a bicycle. On instructing him to stop he refused, jumped off the bicycle and started running. The SAPS members gave chase and apprehended the suspect, upon searching him he was found to be in possession of drugs such as; Tik, mandrax and dagga tables worth a substantial amount. The suspect, aged 32 was detained on charges of dealing in narcotics.

Meanwhile on Monday 04 November 2019 members received a complaint relating to two males that were walking around with a firearm. When the members arrived in Hillview, they noted two males fitting the description according to the information received. On apprehending the suspects, one male aged 22 was found to be in possession of an unlicensed .38 revolver and six rounds of ammunition. He was arrested and charged accordingly.

The suspects are due to appear in the Muizenberg Magistrates Court.
