Muizenberg SAPS recover unlicensed firearm and arrest two suspects in Hillview

WESTERN CAPE On Tuesday, 10 December 2019, members of the Muizenberg SAPS Sector Policing team were busy with crime prevention patrols in the Hillview area. They were patrolling the area as a result of sporadic shooting incidents reported earlier in the day.

At approximately 07:30, SAPS members noted two suspicious males running on Cederberg Road. The two suspects attempted to evade the police but were cornered. The suspects were found to be in possession of a Taurus .38 special revolver which contained four spent shells.

It was later determined that the revolver had been reported stolen in September in the Milnerton area. Both suspects, aged 18, are residents of Hillview and were arrested on a charge of possession of an unlicensed firearm.

Western Cape Acting Provincial Commissioner, Lt General Sindile Mfazi congratulated the members for their tireless efforts to rid communities of the scourge of gangsterism. With the festive season upon us, he urged all residents to be more vigilant and report any suspicious behaviour to their local police.
