NATJOINTS State of Security readiness to ensure safety and security of all in Kimberley

PRETORIA The National Joint Operational and Intelligence Structure (NatJOINTS), which includes all Government departments within the Justice, Crime Prevention and Security (JCPS) Cluster, including the South African Police Service, is instrumental in ensuring that all major events in the country take place in a peaceful, safe and secure environment.

With the aforesaid mentioned, the ANC will host its annual January 8 statement celebrations in Kimberley in the Northern Cape. The main event will be held on Saturday, 11th January 2020 at the Tafel Lager Park Stadium where the President of the ANC, His Excellency, Mr Cyril Ramaphosa will address the gathering.

The event is expected to be attended by 25 000 ANC members and supporters.

It is the National Joint Operational and Intelligence Structure’s (NATJOINTS) responsibility to ensure that this gathering like all other major events, take place in a peaceful, safe and secure environment.

The safety and security preparations for the main event are on track, with all critical role players ready to execute their various responsibilities as per their mandates.

The NatJOINTS has already begun with operational deployments to ensure the safety and security for the residents of Kimberley, all participants and supporters of the event.

Members of the South African Police Service and all law enforcement agencies will apply fundamental policing principles, guided by the Constitution of the Republic of South Africa.

All law enforcements officers on duty will enforce the law at all times and at all places of deployment. Each and every member deployed has a responsibility and an obligation to execute their respective mandates professionally, impartially and with integrity.

Members of the public that plan to stage protest actions and marches are urged to do so within the confines of the law. A speaker’s corner has been allocated for the duration of the celebrations.

The NatJOINTS has also ensured that general safety and day-to-day policing operations are not compromised for all law-abiding citizens of Kimberly for the duration of the event.

The community in and around the Tafel Lager Park Stadium in Kimberley are alerted to the following road closures as from 18:00 on the 10th January 2020 to 11th January 2020 at 18:00.

Permits allowing residents in the vicinity of the Tafel Lager Park Stadium access to their residences will be hand delivered by the Sol Plaatje Municipality security personnel, to their homes.
